Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement
Remaining-wall measurement and corrosion monitoring at selected grid or spot locations.
- Piping, tanks, vessels and structures
- Elevation-referenced data recording
- Local thinning identification
IAIS India and IAIS UAE combine rope access personnel with qualified NDT technicians and fit-for-purpose equipment to inspect elevated, restricted and complex industrial assets worldwide.

Conventional access systems can be slow or impractical around flare structures, tanks, pipe racks, offshore modules, chimneys and tall structures.
Rope access allows an appropriately configured team to reach the required inspection points while maintaining close contact with the component. IAIS India and IAIS UAE plan the rope system and NDT technique together, accounting for surface preparation, equipment positioning, calibration, measurement coverage and data recording.
The inspection technique, acceptance criteria and reporting format are confirmed against the client procedure, applicable code and asset condition before execution.
Method availability is subject to technical feasibility, surface condition, geometry and the client-approved procedure.
Remaining-wall measurement and corrosion monitoring at selected grid or spot locations.
Pulse-echo inspection for thickness, lamination checks and weld examination where technically applicable.
Encoded or manual advanced ultrasonic inspection for welds and selected components.
Detection of surface and near-surface discontinuities in suitable ferromagnetic materials.
Surface-breaking discontinuity detection on suitable non-porous materials.
Direct visual assessment supported by measurement tools and photographic documentation.
Alloy verification using portable equipment appropriate to the material and requirement.
Field hardness measurement for suitable materials, surfaces and component geometries.
Structured thickness collection to evaluate the distribution and progression of wall loss.
A reliable result requires more than reaching the location. The method, calibration, surface condition, coverage and recording system must remain controlled throughout the inspection.
